LAHORE: Pakistan will be aiming to continue its winning streak in the fifth T20I, the first of the Lahore leg, against England here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday (today).

The high-octane clash will kick off at 07:30 PM (PST).

In a nerve-wrenching clash at the National Stadium Karachi on Sunday, the Men in Green pulled off a miraculous win over England, thanks to a sensational 19th over from Haris Rauf.

A more confident Pakistan side will be taking in the visitors in the opening match of the Lahore leg.

Another thing that gave the team a boost was the all-arounder Shadab Khan and the pacer Naseem Shah’s expected return. However, the young pacer was hospitalised due to a viral infection on Sunday, hence, he has been ruled out of today’s play.

It is England’s youngsters who have been one of the talking points in this series. Twenty-three-year-old Harry Brook rose to the occasion in the first T20I and helped England chase down a whirlwind 25-ball 42 not out, and he partnered with Ben Duckett in the third to set the largest total to be scored at the venue and script England’s eventual 63-run win.

Although England’s Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Reece Topley shined against Pakistan in the Karachi leg, Pakistan’s top batter Mohammad Rizwan has found his groove and is currently the series’ highest scorer.

The top bowler for England thus far has been Adil Rashid, who has four wickets to his credit while bowling at an economy rate of 8.00 and an average of 30.

The batting-friendly surfaces at Gaddafi Stadium might make a difference, and the team bowling second will benefit from the dew effect.

The fact that the series is playing the build-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup adds more flavour as the two teams finalise their combinations ahead of the all-important tournament. Both teams fly out immediately after the seventh match – Pakistan flies to New Zealand to play the hosts and Bangladesh in a tri-series and England takes on Australia in Australia.

Possible Playing XIs:

Pakistan: Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Haider Ali, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf
